Transom Knot (fig. 22)

The Transom Knot (fig. 22 A–B) is an excellent way to fix together cross-pieces of wood, bamboo, etc. (such as bean sticks and trellis work in the garden). I fix canoe paddles to my car luggage rack with Transom Knots. It’s related to the Constrictor Knot and – like that knot – ends may be cut short for neatness. Also, cut the knot off by severing its diagonal, when it will fall away in two halves; although it can be prised apart with a pricker.
